OvipositionTrap#
The OvipositionTrap intervention class utilizes an oviposition trap to collect host-seeking mosquitoes, and is based upon imposing a mortality to egg hatching from oviposition. This is a node-targeted intervention and affects all mosquitoes living and feeding at a given node. This trap requires the use of individual mosquitoes in the simulation configuration file (Vector_Sampling_Type must be set to TRACK_ALL_VECTORS or SAMPLE_IND_VECTORS), rather than the cohort model. See Sampling configuration parameters for more information.
Notes and tips for this intervention:
It calculates a habitat-weighted average based on the current capacity of the habitat. It then uses this average to determine if the vector dies while laying eggs.
A vector only lays eggs on the day she feeds.
In the individual model, each vector has its own timer indicating when it should feed. If the number of days between feeds is configured to be temperature dependent (using the configuration parameter Temperate_Dependent_Feeding_Cycle), this duration can be different for each feed.
At a glance:
Distributed to: Nodes
Serialized: No, it needs to be redistributed when starting from a serialized file.
Uses insecticides: No
Time-based expiration: No. It will continue to exist even if the efficacy is zero.
Purge existing: Yes. If a new intervention is added to to the node, the existing intervention of the same name is removed when the new one is added.
Vector killing contributes to: Die Laying Eggs
Vector effects: Killing
Vector sexes affected: Females only
Vector life stage affected: Adult
Note
Parameters are case-sensitive. For Boolean parameters, set to 1 for true or 0 for false. Minimum, maximum, or default values of “NA” indicate that those values are not applicable for that parameter.
EMOD does not use true defaults; that is, if the dependency relationships indicate that a parameter is required, you must supply a value for it. However, many of the tools used to work with EMOD will use the default values provided below.
JSON format does not permit comments, but you can add “dummy” parameters to add contextual information to your files. Any keys that are not EMOD parameter names will be ignored by the model.
The table below describes all possible parameters with which this class can be configured. The JSON example that follows shows one potential configuration.

Disqualifying_Properties |
array of strings |
NA |
NA |
[] |
A list of NodeProperty key:value pairs that cause an intervention to be aborted (persistent interventions will stop being distributed to nodes with these values). See NodeProperties and IndividualProperties parameters for more information. Generally used to control the flow of health care access. For example, to prevent the same individual from accessing health care via two different routes at the same time. |

Habitat_Target |
enum |
NA |
NA |
NONE |
The oviposition habitat type targeted by oviposition traps. This is a required parameter. NONE is the default to ensure the user selects it. If not ALL_HABITATS, then the type must be one of those configured in Vector_Species_Params, Habitats. See Larval habitat parameters for more information. Possible values are:

"Habitat_Target": "WATER_VEGETATION"
}

OvipositionTrap |
The optional name used to refer to this intervention as a means to differentiate it from others that use the same class. |

NA |
NA |
NA |
The configuration of the killing effects for the fraction of oviposition cycles that end in the female mosquito’s death. If there is skip oviposition, this does not configure the mortality per skip, but instead configures the effective net mortality per gonotrophic cycle over all skips. Specify how this effect decays over time using one of the Waning effect classes. |
